Install Boswell

Boswell is distributed as a direct download from meetboswell.com. The app is Developer-ID signed and notarized by Apple, so installation is a standard macOS drag-and-drop — no right-click workarounds or Gatekeeper overrides needed.

Before you install, confirm your Mac meets the system requirements.

  1. Download the DMG. Go to meetboswell.com/Boswell.dmg to download the installer.

  2. Open the DMG. Double-click Boswell.dmg in your Downloads folder. A window opens showing the Boswell app icon and an Applications shortcut.

  3. Drag Boswell to Applications. Drag the Boswell icon onto the Applications folder shortcut.

  4. Eject and open. Eject the DMG, then open Boswell from your Applications folder (or Spotlight). Because the app is notarized by Apple, it opens normally — you won’t see a warning asking you to right-click to bypass Gatekeeper.

  5. Grant permissions. On first launch, Boswell asks for the permissions it needs to capture audio. See Permissions for what each one does and how to grant it.

Boswell uses Sparkle for in-app update checks. When a new version is available, the app shows a prompt so you can update with one click. Update checks are anonymous — no account or identifier is sent to the update server.

You can enable or disable update checks in Boswell → Settings → General.
