Quick Note
A Quick Note is the fastest way to capture a conversation that isn’t on your calendar — a hallway chat, an impromptu call, or a voice memo to yourself. One tap starts it, and everything is transcribed on your Mac.
Starting a Quick Note
Section titled “Starting a Quick Note”Click New Quick Note from:
- the Boswell window,
- the menu-bar icon, or
- the keyboard shortcut ⇧⌘N.
Capture begins immediately — starting it from the menu bar won’t pull you out of the app you’re already in.
What it captures
Section titled “What it captures”Boswell records both sides at once, on your Mac:
- Your microphone — your side of the conversation.
- System audio — whatever is coming through your speakers.
The live transcript keeps the two distinct — your side and the other side — based on your mic versus the system audio. Transcription runs on-device using Apple’s built-in speech recognition; nothing is uploaded.
Stop, resume, and add more
Section titled “Stop, resume, and add more”Stop pauses the capture rather than ending it for good — your mic goes quiet, but the note is kept. Reopen the note and you can pick the conversation back up, adding more audio to the same note. Leaving it finalizes the recording.
Turning it into a note
Section titled “Turning it into a note”When you’re done, Boswell can turn the transcript into an Enhanced Note — a summary, key points, decisions, and action items — generated on-device and included on every plan. See Enhanced Notes for what the note contains.
Where it lives
Section titled “Where it lives”The Quick Note — the transcript, the recording’s audio, and any generated notes — is stored in Boswell on your Mac. If you turn on Markdown export, a plain .md copy is written to a folder you choose. See What stays on-device.
