Managing your notes

Every meeting and quick note lives in Boswell on your Mac, and the app is where you work with them — browse the list, open one to edit, search across all of them, and delete what you don’t need. Nothing leaves your Mac to do any of this. See What stays on-device.

Browsing your notes

Your notes appear in Boswell’s Home list, newest first and grouped by day (Today, Yesterday, and so on). The list loads more as you scroll, so a long history stays quick to move through. Click any row to open the note.

Opening and editing a note

Opening a note shows the full note page — its title, the date and duration, the transcript, and (on Pro) the Enhanced Note sections. Two things are editable:

  • Your own notes. Each note has a freeform writing surface where you can jot your own notes — before, during, or after the conversation. They’re yours and stay separate from the AI sections.
  • The Enhanced Note. The AI summary, key points, decisions, and action items can be edited directly; your changes save automatically and never overwrite the notes you typed yourself.

You can edit the title too. Reopening a quick note lets you pick the recording back up and add more audio to it.

Searching

Keyword search runs across your notes, so you can find a moment without remembering which meeting it was in — type what you recall and jump straight to the note. Search is included on every tier, and Boswell searches on your Mac; your notes aren’t sent anywhere to be searched.

Copying a note

To pull a note into another app, hover its row and choose Copy notes from the ••• menu. Boswell copies the note as Markdown, ready to paste anywhere.

Deleting and restoring

Hover a row and choose Move to trash to remove a note. Deleted notes go to Recently Deleted, so you can bring one back if you change your mind. Deleting a note is just removing your own file on your own Mac — there’s no server copy to worry about.

Keeping a plain-text copy

If you’d like your notes as plain files outside Boswell, turn on Markdown export and Boswell writes a .md copy to a folder you choose. See Export & open formats.
