Enhanced Notes
An Enhanced Note is the structured note Boswell produces when a recording ends. It is a structured document — not a raw dump of words — that includes a summary, key points, decisions, action items, and the full transcript. It’s stored in Boswell on your Mac, and you can optionally export it as Markdown.
Structure of an Enhanced Note
Section titled “Structure of an Enhanced Note”You read and edit the note inside Boswell. If you turn on Markdown export, the same note is written as a plain .md file (with YAML frontmatter) you can save wherever you like — open it in any text editor or Markdown app.
The note is organized into the sections below, in order. Any section with no content is left out rather than padded.
Title and details
Section titled “Title and details”Each note carries a title (from the session or template name, or AI-generated), the date and time the recording started, its duration, and the participants.
Summary
Section titled “Summary”A short prose summary of the meeting, generated on-device by Apple Intelligence — no API key required. Prefer a different model? You can connect your own AI provider instead.
Key points
Section titled “Key points”The main points and details from the conversation, as a scannable bullet list.
Decisions
Section titled “Decisions”What was explicitly decided during the meeting, separated from the general summary so it’s easy to find.
Action items
Section titled “Action items”Tasks and follow-ups pulled from the conversation, each with an owner when a name was mentioned.
Open questions
Section titled “Open questions”Anything raised but left unresolved, so it doesn’t get lost.
Full transcript
Section titled “Full transcript”The complete conversation, with your side and the other side kept distinct and timestamped.
The recording’s audio is kept with the note inside Boswell, so you can play back the original at any time.
When the note is generated
Section titled “When the note is generated”The Enhanced Note is generated on-device when you stop the recording. Transcription runs live during the meeting, so by the time you press Stop, most of the processing is already done; the summary and extraction steps run at end-of-session.
Editing your note
Section titled “Editing your note”You can edit any Enhanced Note directly in Boswell. If you turn on Markdown export, the note is also written as a plain .md file you can open in any text editor.
